Chilliwack Stingrays 2023 Fall/Winter Fit

Jr Pups $85
Join us for our Junior Pup program, consisting of six 30-minute sessions tailored for children aged 3 to 6. This program is perfect for beginner swimmers who haven’t yet mastered a 25-meter unassisted swim. Sessions take place Sundays at the Cheam Centre. Please note that all participants must be potty trained.

-September 10th – October 29th – 8:00am, 9:30am, 10:00am, & 10:30am (No practice October 1st & 9th)
-November 5th – December 17th – 8:00am, 9:30am, 10:00am, & 10:30am (No practice November 12th)

Swimmers who did not participate in the 2023 summer season with the Chilliwack Stingrays (or other BCSSA team) are required to pay a $35.00 insurance fee prior to entering the water. This insurance coverage spans May 1st, 2023 to April 31st, 2024.

CSSC 2023 Summer

Season: May 1st to August 20th, 2023, at the Rotary Outdoor Pool, rain or shine :)
2023 Holidays:
Monday May 22nd, NO PRACTICE

BCSSA Insurance Fee

All swimmers who join our Chilliwack Stingrays Swim Team must pay an additional $35 per swimmer once a year. This cost covers the swimmer’s insurance from May 2023 to May 2024.

Competitive Swim Fees (For Jr Pups)

If you want your Jr. Pup to swim competitively at swim meets, please pay the yearly $60 Competitive Swim Fee. Chilliwack Stingrays is a competitive Swim Club. For Pups, Intermediate, and Advanced Groups this competitive fee is included in the price. Please Note the 6 and under, age group races are 25m and allow coaches to accompany swimmers in the water.

Jr Pup Groups
4:00pm and 4:30pm

Jr Pups sets are 30-minute sessions, for ages 3 to 6. These sessions are for our beginner swimmers who cannot swim 25m unassisted. Coaches and Jr Coaches get in the water, assist children, and teach the fundamentals of swimming. These sessions run Monday, Wednesday, Friday, or Tuesday & Thursday at the Rotary Outdoor Pool. Swimmers must be potty trained!

*If you would like your Jr. Pup to swim competitively at swim meets, please pay the yearly $60 Competitive Swim Fee.

There are just a few details that need attention before we can get your swimmer(s) in the water.

• There are no refunds after the first two weeks of swimming. Extenuating circumstances will be considered upon formal written request submitted to the board.

• Fundraising/Parent Points Fee -There is a fundraising deposit of $175 and a Parent Volunteer Point deposit of $100 per family. This is to be paid by postdated (July 31st) cheques and can be worked off throughout the season by participating in fundraising and volunteerism. This is due the first day of swimming. Details of both will be emailed out on how to participate.

• Swimmers are not allowed in the water unless payments are received.

This information is important for the Coaches to know the swimmers intentions for Meets throughout the Season.

Volunteering at Swim Meets
All families who join the BC Summer Swim Club Association contribute to the success of the program through Volunteerism.

Please find out how you can help to ensure our Club and Region can hold meets for our swimmers. There are tasks for everyone’s ability and availability!

We Are Hiring!

Chilliwack Stingrays Swim Club is hiring coaches for our Winterfit 2022/2023 swim program! Applications for two coaches and two jr coaches are now being accepted. We are seeking enthusiastic individuals, passionate about both swimming and coaching, who want to enable and share in the success of their swimmers.

Our Winterfit program has approximately 80 swimmers of all ages, experience and skill levels including a preschool class. The Chilliwack Stingrays is a member of the Fraser Valley region within the BCSSA. During the winter we practice at two indoor pools and have an approved COVID-19 safety plan in place. Job applicants are expected to commit to all practices, September 2022-End Dec2022 then second session Jan2023-end April 2023.

Responsibilities and expectations for the role:

● Responsible for planning, organizing and implementing a fun, developmental winter while swimming training program for the team, including a dryland component.
● Developing and tracking individualized goals for swimmers with monitoring and reporting on progress towards those goals.
● Developing and executing and communications plan that supports swimmers, parents and the overall operations of the Club.
● 2 Week day Evenings and 1 weekend morning
● Respecting and following the COVID-19 safety plan
● Must be willing to be in the water with swimmers three times a week

Qualifications:

● Superior leadership, organizational and communications skills
● A sense of fun, enthusiasm for coaching and the sport
● Previous experience coaching
● Preferrably NCCP 1 or equivalent and NLS, CPR
● Current criminal record check, completed before the contract is signed

Along with your resume and cover letter, we are requiring submission of a training plan that encompasses Junior Pups, Pups, Intermediate, Advanced and Masters swimmers, including identification of placement criteria within each group.
